Every year 533 St. Albert RCACS is given the opportunity to award two medals at its Annual Ceremonial Review: The Lord Strathcona Trust Fund Medal and the Royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence. These medals are two of the highest awards presented at the squadron, and have very specific criteria which must be met.
533 St. Albert RCACS is not required to award these medals every year, and are only given out when a viable candidate is presented. In order to facilitate the process of selecting a recipient, cadets who believe they meet the criteria set out by these awards are invited to submit an application for consideration. These applications allow the staff to be made aware of all things which make the cadets a viable candidate and therefore make well-informed recommendations to the Commanding Officer.
Applications for both medals are found below. In addition to the application form, a personal narrative of approximately 300-500 words outlining how the cadet meets the acceptance criteria is also required. All applications are due to the Administration Office no later than the CO's Parade in February of each year. Late and/or incomplete applications will not be considered.
